Gallery: The journey of wounded soldiers in WW1

Courtesy of the Imperial War Museum; the Wellcome Library, London (watercolour)

The photos here include two taken by official British war photographers, and one from an album photographed for the Imperial War Museum to show women’s work on the Western Front. The watercolour showing a soldier being towed on a stretcher is by Fortunino Matania (1881-1963).
